SJB Sports Rally!
Today we congratulated our students that were on our sports teams and cheerleading! These students showed true sportmanship and learned how to work as a team. The JV boys basketball team came
in second in their conference and the JV girls basketball team came in first! Thanks to all the students, coaches, and you, the parents for all the hard work and supporting our teams.

Big Shoulders Project
Today two of our fifth graders went with Mrs. Rocket to St. Barbara's School to present our Roseland Neighborhood Project. We have been working on this all year and it was fun to see it all come together with the other schools. Here are some pictures from today's event.

Happy Easter!
The Fifth Graders performed the Passion Play for our school. They were very respectful and reverent. I was very proud of them that they were able to show the younger students of our school what Easter is really about.

The Talent Show!
Last week St. John Berchmans had their annual talent show. The Fifth Graders had a lot of acts from singing, to comedy skits, and gymnastics. Here are a few pictures from that show. I wonder who that teacher is in the sweater vest???

Taking Math Outside!
The Eighth Graders are studing proportions and and using what we know about right triangles to measure the heights of taller objects. We took a yardstick and measured it shadow and then we measured the shadow of the other obect. By putting this in a proportion we were able to measure the heights of the street lights, flag pole and other tall objects without having to use a ladder. Here are some pictures of our Eighth Graders at work.

Field Trip to the Roseland Neighborhood
Today we went on a field trip to actually see the Chicago neighborhood we were researching for our Big Sholders/Chicago Neighborhoods Project. We learned a lot of interesting things about the neighborhood like the Pullman Clock Tower and Hotel . Here are some pictures from our trip.
