The Last Week Of School!

Parents and Guardians,

It's hard to believe that this is the last week of school. The Busy Bees have grown in many ways. It was exciting to watch them grow and change day by day.

I would like to thank you for your support the entire year! It was nice working with such dedicated, caring and hard working parents/guardians. Working hand in hand has made this year really special for me and the Busy Bees.

I look forward to seeing you and your child next year!

REMINDERS: Wednesday, June 3rd: School Picnic from 11:00 to 12:00. The Busy Bees are allowed to bring one stuffed animal to join them for lunch. Parents are invited to join us for lunch from 11:00 to 12:00. Children do not have to wear their school uniforms.

Thursday, June 4th: "End of the Year Celebration' at 9 a.m. in the small hall under the church. Children come to the classrooms at the usual time and parent wait in the small hall. Children can dress casual or dressy.

Following the entire performance by Kindergarten and Pre-School children, snacks will be served and your child's portfolio's will be distributed. Children go home after their parents/guardians look at the portfolio's and have snacks.

Let there be peace in the world and love in our hearts!

The Beautiful Weather!

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather. I know the Busy Bees are! They have been spending a lot of time outside. Besides playing on the playground, the Busy Bees had story time and art class with Ms. Petie outside.

I hope everyone enjoyed the Spring Concert and are looking forward to the "End of the Year Celebration". A note came home Wednesday about having the Busy Bees bring in a flashlight as soon as possible. Please send in an average size flashlight, not a mini one or something that is too big to hold in one hand. Please put batteries in the flashlights too.

Enjoy your long weekend and be safe!

The Field Trip!

Parents and Guardians,

The Busy Bees enjoyed their trip to Strack and Van Til. The store guides were really impressed with the Busy Bees and how well behaved and smart they were.I am so PROUD of the Busy Bees! The Busy Bees went around the entire store with the guides and asked many questions. They really enjoyed the fresh fish section and were able to see the fish up close. Some of the questions they asked were " are those real eyes", " why are they called  red snappers" and  " how do they get the guts out" ?

The Busy Bees tasted strawberry cheese cake, breaded cauliflower and sugar cookies.

Thanks to Mrs. Kathleen for arranging the trip!

Let there be peace in the world and love in our hearts!

Dress for field trip and music show!

Parents and Guardians,

Tuesday is the field trip to Strack and Van Til.  The Busy Bees need to wear jeans/pants, gym shoes and their gym shirts.

For the music show on May 20th, they need to come dressed as

Orphans (tattered clothes). They are doing songs from Annie. The music teacher requested that the girls wear tattered dresses.

                                                                  Thank you,

                                                                  Mrs.  Nancy

Is it really May already?

Parents and Guardians,

WOW! It is hard to believe that this school year is almost over!

As usual the Busy Bees have been busy these past two weeks!

The Week of the Young Child turned out to be a fun and exciting week for the Busy Bees. I was able to take many photos that will be placed in your child's portfolio. These portfolios will be handed out the last day of school, which is June 4th for the Busy Bees. There is going to be an "End of the Year Celebration" and the Busy Bees will be singing a couple of songs to end the school year, along with the pre-k classes. More info will come home soon.

Science: The Busy Bees are very excited about their wildflower plants they planted. The first thing they do in the morning is water their plants. They are learning that it takes time for plants to grow, especially with this gloomy weather we've been having. Thanks to Mrs. Palomar who donated the supplies for the planting.

Math:The math lessons  this past week were from a first grade reproducible book that I purchased at the teachers store. The Busy Bees like and need the challenge. They are doing great and are eager to learn ,learn, learn! They will still be finishing up with the Saxon Math lessons also.

Religion: The Promise Magazine focused on The Lord is My Shepherd and Let the Little Children Come to Me. The Busy Bees also created drawings of creation, which tied in perfect with Earth Day.

Social Studies: Earth Day was the focus and the Busy Bees took a nature walk, talked about saving energy, recycling and that EVERY DAY is EARTH DAY! They did drawings that are hanging in the hallway.

Literacy: The Scott Foresman stories were Flower Garden, Corduroy, and The Wolf's Chicken Stew. The skills that were covered were classifying, drawing conclusions and blends.

Reminders: May 12th- Field Trip to Strack and Van Til Grocery Store

                 May 20th- Spring Concert

June 4th-Last day of school for kindergarten and "End of the Year Celebration"

Information on these reminders will be sent home soon.

Have a Happy Easter!

Parents and Guardians,

I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter!

I am looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday for parent- teacher conferences. I am so PROUD of all the kindergarten children and how fast they are learning.

Last week the Busy Bees were being tested and learning about the Stations of the Cross. We will go to church on Tuesday to review the Stations. The Busy Bees are really excited about reviewing the Stations in church. They were able to make Stations of the Cross books, so they are well prepared.

Another fun activity that was introduced in between testing was sorting buttons during math. The Busy Bees were able to sort buttons by size, shape, color and the number of holes they have. They also were introduced to equal groups. They used buttons to make groups that were equal. We will continue with this after Easter!

The Week of the Young Child is when we come back. It is April 19-25. During that week a lot of fun activities are planned, including the field trip on Tuesday, April 21st.

May there be peace in the world and love in our hearts!  Have a Happy and Blessed Easter!

A Productive Week in Kindergarten!

Parents and Guardians,

This past week  has been a productive one for the Busy Bees!

The Busy Bees will be making Stations of the Cross Books this week and will be going to church to review the Stations. The Promise Magazine focused on helping and doing what is right.

Art: The children were the Kindergarten Van Goghs this week. They drew and painted their own Starry Nights pictures and painted/drew a Bouquet. Decorations were made for the Easter Bunny Breakfast. I hope everyone had a great time.

Mass: The Busy Bees continue to make me proud of their behavior and participation at the Friday Masses. They are so cute when they say "The Our Father" and sing some of the songs during mass. So many people comment on their outstanding behavior and can't believe that they are only in Kindergarten!

The Peaceful Classroom Project!

After reading the story Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam by Hans Wilhelm, the Busy Bees had to draw a picture and tell how they can be Sunbeams for Jesus. This is what they came up with. I can be a Sunbeam by:

"helping people" by Ariana

"helping Gus get up when he falls" by Olivia

"washing the dishes for mommy and daddy" by Maia

"feeding the animals" by Pedro

"helping my sister get out of the mud" by Elysia

"sharing toys" by Riley

"helping someone when they are hurt" by Max

"helping Olivia turn off the computer" by Nora

"helping people stuck in the water" by Remick

"walking my dog" by Isabella

"helping my mom wash the dishes" by Mia

"helping people swim" by Annika

"helping my grandma make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich" by Johnathan

"helping my mom clean the house" by Sofia

"helping my mom make my grilled ham and cheese sandwich" by Jose.

This was a successful project because the Busy Bees often point out when one of their classmates is acting like a SUNBEAM.

It's Great to be Back!

Parents and Guardians,

It is great to be back with the Busy Bees! It is so rewarding and exciting working with them and watching them grow and learn.

Religion: After reading the story Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam, the Busy Bees drew a picture and wrote about how they can be Sunbeams for Jesus. Their responses and drawings are hanging in the hallway and will be placed in their portfolios. The Promise Magazine focused on forgiveness. The Easter Story and The Story of Saint Patrick were read.

Math: Recognition of numbers 1 to 100, cylinders, subtraction , addition and counting on were areas covered these past two weeks.

Reading: The stories that were covered were Jump IntoThe Jungle and Shoes Like Miss Alice's. The skills that were covered were classifying and making predictions. The reading words were reviewed and identified when writing the Morning Story.

Art: Vincent Van Gogh was introduced. The Busy Bees made some cute chicks popping out of colorful eggs. They will be displayed at the Easter Bunny Breakfast on Saturday, March 28th. Crosses, shamrocks and Leprechauns were made.

Cooking: The Busy Bees made rainbow toast by painting colored milk on white bread and then toasting it. They really were excited to learn how food coloring changes the color and not the taste of food. They even had me put green food coloring in milk and apple juice at snack time.

It was GREAT to see so many of you at the auction on Saturday. The planters that Mrs. Palomar had the Busy Bees paint sold! They were beautiful and a couple parents from our room bought them.

Don't forget the Easter Bunny Breakfast on Saturday, March 28th.

Let there be peace in the world and love in our hearts!
